Project management certificate – is it useful or not?
A project management certificate is usually earned after the student attends a program which has one or more curses and which can last from 4 to 18 weeks. A student who has earned his project management certificate has great chances of becoming a great project manager and can work in almost any industry he wants.
This program usually helps students develop new skills and improve the ones that they already have. First of all, they learn how to manage a project, from the beginning to the end: he learns how to assign the activities and the tasks in order to be able to finish the project on time.
A project management certificate can be achieved if you attend a normal course or if you attend an online class: both of them have the same value and help you in the same way. If you decide to attend an online project management course you should know that there is no difference between this course and one which is held in a university, for example. The only difference is that you attend the course from home, the teacher is not in front of you – is in front of the computer.
After you have attended the classes, you have to take a test in order to receive your project management certificate – there are institutions which give two tests to their students, meaning theory and practice.
If you want to earn your project management certificate you should know that all the programs have a few compulsory courses that you need to attend:
- Introduction to Project Management;
- Project Schedule
- Project cost and how to control the budget;
- How to manage the resources – human resources and financial resources;
- How to make a plan for your project;
- How to manage all the tasks and activities of the project.
After a student has gained his project management certificate, he must be able manage all the projects:
- he should be able to apply some fundamental theories and principles – we refer to basic concepts – into their projects;
- he should be able to use all the tools and techniques that are needed;
- he should be able to: plan,execute, control, monitor, finish and deliver a project on time;
- he should be able to control and monitor all the resources that he has, meaning the financial and the human ones; he needs to be able to communicate with team in order to control and at the same time motivate them;
- he must respect the budget that the client has for the project;
- he needs to be able to manage projects from all the fields and industries – financial services, marketing, administration, health and sciences.

After you earn your project management certificate you can say that you are a true professional and that you have the necessary skills in order to manage a project. A project management certificate also means that you are able to manage a project, and that companies should trust you if they need a project manager for their projects.
